Couples Therapy
Do you feel misunderstood by your partner and unable to break the cycle of all-too-familiar arguments? Perhaps you’re feeling defeated because you and your partner can’t seem to get on the same page about how to complete simple tasks like washing the dishes, so it’s no wonder that discussions about parenting or money go from 0-100 in no time flat. Couples therapy can offer you and your partner (or co-parent) a space to have a different experience of each other.
Most couples come to therapy because of “communication problems” and while every couple is unique, there are lots of common missteps—and luckily also lots of tactics that work well—so I will tailor interventions to fit your specific relationship. I will often give you exercises to do between sessions to encourage new ways of relating to each other.
I welcome couples of any type / life stage into my practice. Whether you identify as heterosexual or LGBTQ, whether you are married, dating, or not sure if you want to stay together, couples therapy can help you build more connection, understanding, and empathy for one another. Much of our greatest pain comes from and within relationships; but much of our greatest joy does too.
